Diego Salazar is an artist and architect, as well as Co-Founder & Director of rombo.   Born in Mexico City in 1993, Diego grew up in Cancun, in the state of Quintana Roo. His grandmother, Rosa, was the first to realize that Diego had an affinity for drawing, and so began a long career invested in art and architecture.  In 2005, at the age of 12, Diego, along with his parents and two brothers, moved to the State of Florida, in the United States, looking for greater opportunities. This was an enormous challenge for the Salazar family, culturally, financially, and emotionally. However, with the help of the great teachers in the Palm Beach County public schools, Diego was encouraged to continue his artistic career, soon enrolling at A.W. Dreyfoos, School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he grew and refined his skills. In 2009, he had the opportunity to have an exhibition in Bridgehampton, NY, thanks to a kind and visionary man who discovered Diego's work in a gallery representing Scholastic Art & Writing Award recipients in the area.   In 2011, Diego was admitted into the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Arts in New York City. The next five years were spent growing his philosophy for work, as well as his technique. Key Professors like Diane Lewis, Lebbeus Woods, Susan Gussow, and Rod Knox were instrumental to Diego's architectural education. After working three years as an architectural and furniture designer for designers Robert Couturier, Poonam Khanna, and Roman and Williams, Diego took a leap of faith into starting Studio Rombo along with his brother Alberto. They wanted to create a platform where artistic talent can be fostered and elevated through representation and collaboration. At the same time, Diego was inspired to create his most ambitious artistic project yet, using his own hands to create a series of fourteen large-scale dry-pastel drawings, which were exhibited on December of 2021 along with several collaborations with artists from Oaxaca, Mexico.
